5 Reasons Why You Should Brand

Humanity is falling down a digital rabbit hole, and it’s creating a greater thirst for personal interaction. Nowadays, the best way to market & grow your business is to connect with your customers on a personal level (ahem, branding).

When you give your business a vibrant personality & funky style that speaks to your target market, you’ll find your customers will turn into loyal followers (or, one might even say, friends). But just don’t take my word for it! Let’s break down the nitty gritty psychology of branding.

1. It makes you likable.

When you humanize your business, your clientele will react to you(r business) as if it were, you know, human. It’s like comparing a rock to your grandma. If your brand can evoke an emotional response from your customers, they will feel connect to your business in a personal way. They will care.

2. It makes you different.

Branding is the art of differentiation. It’s what sets you apart from the competition in the eyes of your customers.

In essence, you and your competitors are (pretty much) the same. You sell the same goods or offer the same services, and your prices are usually fairly similar. Branding will make your customers go out of their way to choose you. (And the kicker? With great branding, you can even level up those same-old prices!)

3. It makes you trustworthy.

We’ve all had that friend with multiple personalities. And I’m not talking about a mental disorder. I’m talking about the two- (or three, or four) facers. The one who can’t seem to figure out who they are, so they change their personality depending on who they’re around. And sure, you may love’em, but you can’t trust them because you never know which face they’re going to slap on and how they’re going to act/react.

Don’t let your business be THAT friend. With consistent branding, your followers will know who you are, and they’ll trust you for it.

4. It makes you recognizable.

Your customers should recognize your content without having to see your logo. Waving your logo around all the time can start to feel pushy, advertise-y & desperate.

Using a consistent voice and a unified style throughout your entire business will make your followers identify your stuff without feeling over-marketed to.

5. It makes you memorable.

Please try to name any kind of facial tissue brand other than Kleenex. (Okay, I’m sure some of you can - but you get my point, right?)

Branding will help you become the Kleenex of your industry, instead of the [insert generic-facial-tissue-brand-that-I’m-too-lazy-to-Google here]. If your customers remember you, the next time they go shopping for your product or service, they will most likely buy from you.

 

The Gist

Creating a consistent & unified persona for your business helps your customers identify & connect with you. Not only will they continually come back to you, but they will recommend you to their friends. They will wear your brand’s merchandise & talk about your brand as if you were besties in high school. Because to them, y’all could have been.
