The 3 Most Important Instagram Metrics To Help You Improve Your Content

Have you reviewed your best-performing posts on Instagram recently? If the answer is a hell-to-the-no, then stick around! In this blog post, I’m going to give you a rundown on what Instagram metrics (aka analytics) you should be paying attention to, what they mean, and why they matter for your business.

Understanding analytics can be tough at first to understand, especially if you’re new to the concept - it’s okay, we’ve all been there! By the end of this blog post, you’ll have a better grasp on what to pay attention to when it comes to understanding the analytics behind your content and how you can improve upon that content so you’re one step closer toward reaching your ideal audience!

1. impressions & Reach

So you don’t get confused right off the bat, impressions and reach are very similar statistics, so you don’t necessarily need to keep track of both unless it’s important to you and your business!

Your impressions tell you how many times your post was displayed in people's feeds, and your reach tells you how many unique views your post received. To phrase it another way, impressions consist of how many total times your post was viewed but reach refers to the total number of unique accounts that viewed your post.

2. post interactions

This metric is based on the number of likes, comments, saves, shares, etc, that your posts received, otherwise known as the engagement. Looking at post interactions will help you see which posts were the most popular with your audience.

engagement is key!

As a social media marketer, engagement is something that has been key in building my own brand and my clients’ brands because it’s the key to connection, especially on Instagram. Finding a way to engage with your ideal client’s or customer’s account in a meaningful way will usually lead to them engaging with you in return. Post interactions = engagement, so this metric is really important when it comes to understand what kind of messaging your audience seems to respond to.

These fairly self-explanatory metrics may be the most important because for most of us, profile visits and website taps are the best indication of which posts made you the most customers and sales. For someone to take the action of navigating away from your post to visit your profile and then tap the link in your bio is a sign that they want to learn more about you and your brand.

ctas encourage website taps.

A CTA, otherwise known as a “call-to-action” is a great way to encourage people to click your website or the link in your bio. An example CTA could be something like “Head to the link in my bio to learn more about how to work with me!
